BUILDING PEACE FROM PIECES

THE ROADMAP TO PEACE ON YOUR TERMS.

9/17/2023

No Woman Is An Island

The truth is what we do is never just about us. You know this as well as I do. I'm fairly certain that you also know that what you do affects those you care about.
But, here's what you might not know or, at least, might not fully really and that is this: Your life becomes a standard for people close to you. .

What you do has such a huge impact on those in your close circle that their choices, decisions and behavior are directly related to your choices, decisions and behavior.

Your Fulfilling Life Strengthens Others

I learned that when I stopped arranging and living my life around my cousin for whom I was caregiver; when I stopped being the 24/7 go-to for every person who decided giving me space or respecting my time was outweighed by whatever they wanted; when I was stopped by health issues that resulted from my lack of self-care, not only did my life change for the better but "their" lives changed for the better!

People adjust.

Clearly, I am not talking about walking away from a bedridden person. I will tell you, however, there are still ways to create the kind of "space," acceptance, surrender and peace you need and want even in these situations. I know because I did it and I have coached others through the same! This, however, is another message for another forum. (This truly requires a one-to-one relationship for hands-on, personalized guidance.)

What I want you to take into your mind and plant into your spirit is that "letting go" to live your life for you is a good thing for everybody. "Letting go" holds the power to allow a natural order of growth and events to take place that helps you and people in your life.

Stunting your growth also stunts the growth of people you care about. When a child learns to ride a bike, there will be some falls. If you never let go of the bike, they never learn to balance and ride!
In this delicate balance is where you find a life of fulfillment and peace.

Where in your life and life circle could you use some balancing ?

Your Roadmap To Peace

In all my years advising, coaching and representing women, I can tell you a secret that really should not be a secret: Most of the time people want to see change in their lives, they are wanting someone else to change.

I cannot tell you how many women had "light bulb" moments when they realized, later in the process, that other people change when we make necessary change of our own. People adjust who they are, their expectations of you and learn to stand a little taller, with a bit more respect for you when you stand a little stronger, with a little more attention on yourself and a little (or a lot) less attention on them.

If you’re wanting to and ready to GET BACK TO YOU and balance out your life and those lives affected by yours, be sure to grab your checklist: "Self-Reflection Checklist: Are You Living Your Life on Your Terms?".

Self-Reflection Checklist: Are You Living Your Life on Your Terms?

By the way, even if somehow there are no other persons in your life overshadowing your own interests, the question remains the same. Do you need to create a more fulfilling life for you?

Whatever is important to you, you can have that. For you, that might be:

* Spending more time with your friends,
* Taking a note for hobby, or doing something fun that you haven’t done in a long time,
* Taking a trip even if it’s not a long vacation,
* Pursuing a new career or job,
* Gardening,
* Building and having a stronger relationship with your children and grandchildren,
* Spending more quality time with your mate,
* Spending time alone – just doing you,
* Lowering your stress and improving your overall health,
* Getting better sleep and rest,
* Or whatever you’ve been missing out on and been wanting.

… LIVE LIFE ON YOUR TERMS

For me, it was getting my time back and getting my energy and health back so I could do what I choose to do and not what other people’s lives dictated I do.

BUT ... The impact was even greater than the desires I had for myself.

We have to shake misbeliefs that prevent us from living fully.

What I am talking about here is when we decide others cannot do without us. They cannot do without our feedback and input. They cannot do without our unsolicited advice. ... They cannot do without us/our ... you fill in the blank.

Some of the things that really hold women back are:

·       fear
·       guilt
·       not realizing they need help
·       not aware help/assistance is available
·       embarrassment
·       believing they have no choice; they are stuck
·       doubt they can do whatever it is they desire
·       lack of support they believe they should be getting from others
·       believing their life will change if they can just get someone else to change some behavior
·       others telling us we are supposed to be dong ... this ...

I know these are real feelings and beliefs but, for each "reason," there is a solution for each of them.

When you get clear on what you want, and you take action, everybody else and everything else just fall into place!

The funny thing, too, is that your relationships get stronger because you have set a standard that people start to take seriously.

You’ve come too far to survive. You deserve to thrive.

Souly yours,

Carol
